Zeitgeist The Movie

Zeitgeist The Movie

For those who are cautious about stepping out to the edge of “reality” or challenging your ego’s comfort zone, this film Zeitgeist released in 2007, may not be for you. For others with a more insatiable appetite for differing viewpoints to entertain, you should find this film at least intriguing.

Why would I make such comments? First off, the film’s name is a bit unusual that is unless you know German. The word zeitgeist, its meaning referring to and attempting to describe the general cultural, intellectual, ethical, spiritual, or political climate within a nation or even specific groups of people. In short- the essence of an age. How appropriate for a time as now. Most would agree controversial yet sound viewpoints are often ridiculed by those who stand to loose something they perceive as valuable. As a result, they soon find themselves left alone in their status quo thinking. I call those individuals and groups, “flat-earth” theologists. Yes, their spirit still abounds even to this day; and that is ok, for them.

“Eternal truths will be neither true nor eternal unless they have fresh meaning for every new social situation”- Franklin D. Roosevelt

Zeitgeist begins very intensely, enough to get anyone’s attention. Be forewarned if deciding to watch this film; view its entirety especially if you have very dogmatic religious beliefs. Some of those who are dogmatic could find the first part of the film a bit uncomfortable. If so, be easy with it all. You could at least get to know your ego a little better through the process and possibly a new way of critical thinking. And yes, for all others who are not religiously dogmatic, this film covers the entire spectrum just as the name implies.

I don’t view this as a “conspiracy” movie since the premise has factual standing. Quite the contrary even if it has that sort of flavor. Anytime someone attempts to combine the subject of dominant social institutions, religion, 9/11 and monetary policy you are bound to stir up controversy. Is that not what films like Zeitgeist are for? But, for me as always, the viewpoint offered warrants validation. If that is a process chosen to embark upon, you will not be alone nor fall short of reliable information to support the film’s conclusion.

The Sequal- Zeitgeist II the Addendum

Zeitgeist II Addendum    Just like all films which create a buzz thereby demanding a sequel, they released in 2008- Zeitgeist II the Addendum. This second follow-up film offers a refreshing view of a viable, realistic, world where full human potential for life abounds. A world environment in which politicians and profit based monetary systems are essentially removed from the problem-solving equation. I won’t elaborate further in this post about Zeitgeist II the Addendum, other than to suggest it should be viewed after having seen Zeitgeist first.

Of course it’s best viewed on a larger screen, or go to Google for the full screen mode. Below is the full two hour version of Zeitgeist.

As always- your comments are welcomed and encouraged. If you like what you see and read here at Shift of The Age, be apart of the awareness- share! Be sure to forward, subscribe via RSS feed or email direct to your inbox. Thanks!
